Becoming a Published Author:
If you're an author looking to get published, I strongly recommend attending a writers conference. Conferences are a great place to meet literary agents, editors, and to network (and commiserate) with other fellow authors. Are conferences nerve-wracking? Oh my goodness--yes! And yet the knowledge, connections, and friendships you may gain could be invaluable.
